5 Features Every Home PC Should Have

If you’re thinking about purchasing a new computer for your home, you’ll need to make sure all specs are suitable for your needs. If you’re struggling with the tech terminology out there though, you may find it difficult to make decision. So that you don’t purchase the wrong system, here are five of the most important features for any home PC. Make sure to look at each of these before choosing one model in particular.

1. Operating System

Starting off with the basics, the operating system (or OS) is the software that allows a user to conduct tasks on their computer. Most PCs function on Windows although some also use Linux. If you’re not tech savvy, a Windows machine can be better as it’s easy to install, operate and update. When compared to Apple desktops and laptops, Windows computers are generally more affordable and customisable. This is good news for the average consumer as it means they can tailor the machine to their needs without having to blow out their shopping budget in the process!

2. Monitor

You’ll also need to consider the screen that you’re using. These come in various types, so it is important to understand the differences between all of them. There are two main models available: CRT & LCD. The latter comes in the following varieties:

·         In-plane switching (IPS)

·         Vertical alignment (VA)

·         Twisted nematic (TN)

You’ll also need to consider the size of the screen you’re using. Which models will fit in your home environment? Are you after something more portable? The monitor dimensions will certainly affect the answers to these questions.
